The alternatives are constantly being developed further. We therefore recommend that you to check in each individual case whether an alternative is suitable for your applications and purposes. Substitution of chromium trioxide in the electroplating of sanitary appliances by a trivalent chromium process

Chromium trioxide was placed on the REACH Authorisation List in 2013 and its use has needed a specific authorisation in the EU since 2017.
Instead of preparing for reapplying for an authorisation to further use the toxic substance in the electroplating of metal sanitary appliances it was decided to implement a trivalent chromium process.

Substitution von Chromtrioxid und Nickel bei der Galvanisierung von Sanitäreinrichtungen durch ein nickelfreies dreiwertiges Chromverfahren zur Verhinderung der Nickelauswaschung ins Trinkwasser

Chromtrioxid wurde 2013 in die REACH-Zulassungsliste aufgenommen und seine Verwendung erfordert seit 2017 eine spezielle Zulassung in der EU. Anstatt eine Zulassung für die weitere Verwendung des giftigen Stoffes bei der Galvanisierung von Sanitärobjekten aus Metall zu beantragen, wurde beschlossen, ein dreiwertiges Chromverfahren einzuführen und vollständig auf Chromtrioxid zu verzichten. Parallel dazu wird die Nickelunterschicht durch eine Kupfer-Bakar-Schicht ersetzt.

Statt eine Zulassung für die weitere Verwendung des giftigen Stoffes bei der Galvanisierung metallischer Sanitärobjekte zu beantragen, wurde beschlossen, ein Verfahren einzuführen, das dreiwertiges Chrom verwendet und vollständig auf Chromtrioxid zu verzichten. Parallel dazu wird die Nickelunterschicht durch eine Weißbronze ersetzt.
