On 23 - 24/04/2024 the conference "Tomorrow's Chemicals Policy: Perspectives and Challenges" took place in the context of the Belgian Presidency in Brussels.
In the presence of experts, scientists, members of civil society and industry representatives, the event assessed the progress of chemicals policy at European and global level. In view of the Chemical Strategy for Sustainability and the actions still pending, it identified today's main challenges and tomorrow's opportunities in order to deliver a clear message to the future Commission. The first day of the conference was devoted to the strategy for sustainability in the chemicals sector, addressing among other topics the “Safe and Sustainable by design” framework, suitable alternatives to PFAS, future policy needs for endocrine disrupters and hazardous substances in articles. The second day covered chemicals policy at international level focusing on the new Global Framework on Chemicals.
