More environmentally friendly production of chemicals

  • Date 2024-10-17

The UBA study “Process-integrated measures and alternative production methods for a more environmentally friendly production of chemicals” contains descriptions of production processes for a more environmentally friendly production of chemicals and information on the associated environmental aspects. While the study’s focus is on decarbonization/defossilization, the use of hazardous substances and emissions are also addressed. Both technologies already in commercial use and technologies under development are examined, e.g., production of hydrogen, ammonia and carbon black, methanol-to-olefins, Fischer-Tropsch process, electrification of steam crackers, alternative feedstocks, minimization of chlorine use, possibility of flexible operation of plants, general technologies with environmental relief potential.
