The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is an independent test and certification system for textile raw, intermediate and end products based on tests for harmful substances.
The standard was developed by the International Association for Research and Testing in the Field of Textile Ecology (OEKO-TEX®). It can be applied to all stages of the processing. Examples of articles that can be certified are yarns, fabrics, treated fabrics, manufactured articles (clothing of all kinds, domestic and household textiles, bedding, towels, soft toys and many more). The tests for harmful substances cover substances which are prohibited or regulated by law, chemicals which according to current scientific knowledge are harmful to health (but not yet legally controlled), and testing parameters which are included as a precautionary measure to safeguard health. Test criteria are based on the intended use of the textiles (e.g. in products for babies). In this database only the list of chemical substances is provided. The standard is revised annually.
